Those things are pretty much useless, I have confirmed with rebuilders you need a matched cam with the head or your into line boring...
Without cam bearing like a Chev motor you cannot simply install cams without problems later on (after all these are engines that last hundreds of thousands, not 100).

ah i don't no about that..i've been swapping used cams and new cams into used and new vw aluminum heads for 18 plus years and no problems..so your saying you can't buy this new head and install a new performance cam?..i don't believe it.. some of these rebuilders are bs ing you...
