1.9 L Head
« on: July 19, 2006, 07:55:48 pm »
Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone might have a 1.9L TD head for sale (not sure if it matters but for 1 hole gasket).  The year is 1993.
Thanks!

As I recall this engine had the crank pulley problem. If its just bent valves and crushed lifters, they're pretty cheap. Might be worth fixing rather than replacing...

Not if the lifter bores are toast   , I used to think it was rare but the last two 1.9 IDI heads that came through here had toasted lifter bores.

It overheats right away...likely a cracked head I suspect.  Anyone got a lead on a head?

The lifter bores can be sleeved, it's a little work but the heads are worth $1000... Its kind of odd how the 8mm valve stem heads seldom crush the lifter completely, they just poke a neat hole in the bottom and bend the valve. The 7mm stems nearly always crush the top of the lifter and chew up the lifter bores. The different lifters in the 7mm heads have a soft top it seems.

Do you mean the coolant is blown out right away? Some '93 engines still had composition head gaskets that were awful bad for failing. Has the engine been apart to confirm the cracked head?
