Well i have a misshap and lost the bolt that holds the speedo cable on the trans.I need to know what size it is so i can go get one or if someone in the use wants to send me one they have laying around that would be grate. Thanks
Not sure but I think it's the same as the ones on the waterpump. Assuming this is a mk1 or mk2.
You can probably get away without one in the pump for a while while one is shipped to you.
if its the same on the water pump it would be a 6mx1.0
Thanks guys i will go and buy one in the moring.
I don't think that's the same size bolt. It is nice to know the thread on the waterpump bolts, that's a common thread used throughout the engine bay.
The speedo bolt is uncommon.
It's probably closer to the 2 bolts that hold the tin cover to the lower part of the trany... the tin shield between the engine and trany.
Grab the 11mm... or 7/16" wrench Pull one of the 2 bolts under the car, that hold the bottom of that tin shield to the trany... see if that's the right thread. .
It had a 11mm head is it might be 8mmX1.25 pich?Like the allen head pully bolts on the engine. And i think it is like half a inch long.
Mine didnt have that bolt in it, and It's stayed put for over a year now, I just tamped the metal "base" of the cable in to the transmission, seems to work fine.
