Mr T
The downpipe must be available in most exhaust retailers. If i can get one for my TD Passat mk2 then it should not bea problem.
Not sure on turbo differences beyond smaller ones spool up faster. My KKK ones all provide plenty of umph at 10psi. What with all those speedtraps we now have :?

The t25 might just be too big. I'm using that and i dont get any serious boost until 3500rpm. Might be that you have a smaller turbine (t2?) that could be good...

Reet mate! - you came on over then!
MK1 did get the odd TD motor, but you won't find a downpipe anywhere.
Stick a tapping for an EGT gauge in before you fit motor - I'm wishing I'd done mine.
Gonna be trying to fire up my Caddy GTD tonight! Just need a return hose making for the diesel pump to filter.

Hello mate,
I'm in the UK too and have done this swap, I'm in the process of making up a proper downpipe now, and its proving to be a right PITA
I would seriously consider one from passenger performance
I've got an aircraft egt guage in mine, and its great, really fast acting, and about a third the price of one from a car place  I have no idea why people are prepared to pay silly prices beacuse it a 'performance car part'
definately go pre turbine with the sender - its just so much more accurate
if you're really into making power, you might want to do the govenor mod which may be easier with the engine out, as it involves taking the injection pump off, then you could run with the k24 and get proper fueling higher up in the revs, though I've stayed with the smaller k14 (came on the GTD enigne standard) and it spools up really nice and quick and will still push 1.5 bar, I'm running at about 1.3 at the moment
you could also get the fittings for a boost controller with the lump out, just a bit less fiddly
a front mount intercooler is definately worth looking into

how easy is it to change the turbo with the engine in??
i don't want to start swopping turbos if its a pain in the arse..
