IP Front Seal leak, tough to replace?
« on: June 05, 2006, 08:40:59 am »
Hello all, It's been a while since I last posted.
The vanagon has been tough to start lately, so I decided to see why, seemed like the lift pump was either sucking air, or failing, so I hooked up the electric pump and voila, I have a leaking front seal on my IP.
I ordered a new one from my Bearings Distributor guy (FYI Chicago Rawhide Part # 6611).
I am hoping to replace the seal that's in there with a new one, of course I'll have to take the pulley off, which I have done many times. Are there any other gotchas that I should know about when doing this job? Any tips to make it easy to get the seal out without hacking up the housing?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
