Hey there, i was thinking about lowering my 2000TDI but i dont want to give up any ride comfort, any body have experince here? i was thinking 1.5 or 1.8 inches,

I just installed a 30-40 FK Cupkit on my 1992 TD Jetta.

The ride is tight, rattle free, flat cornering, a little bumpy, a little bit harsher than stock on square edges, but not bone jarring by any stretch. Well worth the switch. Install is straight forward. Recommended.
I just grabbed H&R spring for my a1 gasser, dont have em in yet. My brother lowered his 97 A4, what a difference in ride. the thing will corner with no body roll.
If you lower the jetta I highly recamend a steel skid plate covering the oil pan and anything of any importance under there.

I just lowered my A2 Jetta, looks great but decision to to this was mostly because I was still on original springs at 500,000 km's and didn't like
the body roll around corners.
Got some FK 35/40 sport springs nearly new on vwvortex half price. They are very stiff in front and medium in rear. Like poster above said harsh on square edge but very OK otherwise. Was set-up with KYB GR2 gas shocks on all corners and they are a good match for the rear but
underdampened for front. I tend to bounce a bit too much to my liking. ( like a Case backhoe on a country road )
Most people warned me but I didn't listen, kind of wishful thinking that it would be OK because I payed 250.00 tax in for the four.
I'll be going Bilstein in front when I can afford.
BTW : Personaly I wouldn't go any lower for a daily driver :!:
I will have to snag some pictures (washed or unwashed) and show you how low I went with 1.5" drop springs... I went with a 5way adjustable tokico struts up front (very nice) can make it feel cadilac smooth or no balls left hard up front, back TurboBoge they are doing okay.
I have a mk3 Jetta and just dropped it with Neuspeed Sport springs and Bilstein Sports struts/shocks. It's supposed to be a 1.3" drop all around on the mk3 and the lowest I'd go on a daily.

BTW just hade the rear axle bushings and front ball joints replaced.
Much better handeling now, not nearly as bouncy.
It seems as if the shocks are breaking in or the gas / oil in the shocks are leveling / migrating to proper order?
Does this make sense, your experience?
The mechanic confirmed that he did cycle the rods before installation but I wonder. Anyhow he mentioned that the fluids do level out with use.
The reason I bring this up is that on the KYB install sheet they mention this as a warranty void item if not done.

I have the FK sport springs 35/40 drop.
What is the FK cup-kit above?
Does that consist of the saucers / seats that drop the ride height?
BTW Am happy with the spring rate of these springs, they may be on
the soft side as far as sport springs are concerned but fit my needs for daily driver. I would like more damping if front however and may
go the Tokico adjustable route in the futur.

OK, did the research, cup kit is the FK struts and coils together.
Thought it may just have been the dishes.
Anyhow I noticed some surface rust / peeling undercoating where the
rear spring mounts are in the upper fender wells.
Should I blast, prime and reseal with undercoating, any suggestions?
