so as said, i got my td in, and the motor is alot mroe powerful and all, but it jsut doesn't rev much, and it seems like i could get the turbo spooling better if i could get it to rev. on my old engine i could wind out the gears more, like third gear, once i hit about 50 it just kinda poops out, but before, i could keep winding it to 55 easily or even 60 if i really wanted to push it. what i am wondering is if i back off the screw that limits how far the throttle leaver can turn, can i get a little more rev out of it and keep my turbo spooled better?, i understand how the governor kicks in and stuff, but it seems like it should rev more like the n/a motor, but i do know td's have a lwoer governor setting.

i think my friends are more impressed with it than i am. the lag is a little obnoxious though, but hopefully when i put the passenger performance pipe on it will help with that.

I can race you in the near future and we can find out if your car is down on power... in either my 85 jetta with a eco motor or my dad's 91 eco turned full TD with larger garrett turbo.

we should tape it too, hey I know it would be a haul for you but we could go drag racing at Numidia raceway you can get like abillion passes in in one night even on a busy night I think the least I ever got in ( I also let my car cool down after 2passes for 45 min) was like 8 passes in 1 night and I didn't even stay the whole time.

The screw/locknut on the top of the aneroid fuel control will adjust the turbo lag, less lag= more smoke. Adjust to your liking.

that's what i thought, the nice hot gasses would help to get it going better, i wanna wait to do any mods until i can control myself to stay off the go pedal. it's so much more fun to drive now, i must of had the pedal to the floor about 90% of the time, i went through 15 dollars of gas quick, which i guess thats about 5 gallons, maybe i have a fuel leak... my odometer is broken so i'm not sure what kind of mileage i am getting at all. cause even though i was driving like an ass i should be doing better than 5 gallons in 2 days. i definetly am interested in hitting up that drag strip though.

Yeah my dp's definately get the turbo spooling faster, less backpressure=faster turbo spool up, and lower egts's you cant go wrong. But if its abnormally slow spool up you need to clean out your wastegate and crank up your fuel, crank up the fuel first and see what that does for you.

i am in lebanon you can come up and compair or we both could go up to the land of the dead pigens and smoke out the town. i am running veg oil and gas so i am not going to have as much top end.or go to cecil county race way
http://www.cecilcountydragway.com/ which is closer than newmedia. and i may run my duster when the engine is hooked up.

Pump timing will affect your happy spooliningness too. If it was set by the PO, you might want to check it.
Dennis, are you running unheated veg? I seem to do a tiny bit better on veg if my filter is clean.

i use to have a heater i made from some 2" black pipe which gave it about 20 degF at 65 mph just to help the filter out but i took it off. i have driven to work at 26 degF no heat with 30%gas 70% oil and it is in the way. i think i will go about 450 to 480 on this tank.

okay I got my jetta running today with the turbo motor, got the DP rigged for now and no LDA yet, wanted to make sure car ran okay before I screwed with the pump.
We should schedule something like a Diesel drag event, alas I make zero smoke even on startups (but im not complaining about that)
