injectors ... what are the biggest i can find?
« on: April 05, 2015, 11:09:42 am »
hi folks im texting from portugal wich is in europe... i'm helping a friend of mine on a build of a golf mk2 1.6td JR engine code i think... so the injectors might be 155bar we wanted to put bigger ones... everybody have been talking about the merc's 300d injectors ... on autodata those injectors only do 125bars... so i thought those are even smaller than stock... i looked around the biggest we could find to fit on are 180bars...

How much power are you trying to make? Everything I've read seems to suggest stock injectors are big enough for 90% of peoples power goals.

The opening pressure is not a function of the size of the injector or the amount of fuel it will flow.  The reverse is actually true.  A lower break pressure will allow a larger proportion of the plunger motion to deliver fuel rather than build pressure.  Regardless, the IDI injectors are not like the TDI ones and you will not see any significant power differences with the various nozzles.  Stock injectors will flow enough fuel to loosen, crack, and drop pre-chambers into the cylinder and destroy the engine.  What more do you want?

i know what you mean ... but on autodata its says like amount of fuel per second of each injector... we are talking about a minimum 180hp wanted... everything have been taken in considering dealing with that amount of power... k24 turbo... pd intake manifold... large intercooler... 11mm plunger fuel pump... reinz gasket... larger brakes... coilovers... outside will look stock... with general motor wheels that look like bbs RA size 14

The stock injectors are fine. You need pump upgrades to get big power like that though. IDI nozzles aren't responsible for atomization the way TDI ones are; they didn't need to make them small in the first place.

we can put 11mm plunger if we have to... or 12 ... to achieve those numbers... we just dont want any limitations... like put everything in order no leaks etc and in the end dont having more than 120 130hp... i dont have pics we are rebuilding water circuits cleaning painting etc... and i dont know how to post pictures...

Stock plunger on the IDI is only 9 mm so even a 10 mm head is an upgrade. AAZ pump is the best starting place for power, it has the best cam plate.

180 hp on an IDI is going to be challenging in terms of keeping the head together. The prechambers will want to blow out.

i know thats why we are going with the pd intake because or air distribuition to avoid that... and reinz gasket... its possible on a 1.9 engine wich is basicly the same as a 1.6 ... of course gasket is a steel gasket on the 1.9... and the have larger piston... so.................. we are just going to see how its gonna go... i didnt knew about the camplate of the 1.9 pump... but the sensivity of the fuel pin on the 1.6 pump is better... i also heard about the 1.9 gasket in 1.6... basicly the only problem to achieve it its the gasket... so 155bar golf mk2 stock injectors will take me to 180hp minimum right?

It is unlikely that the injectors will hold you back, let's put it that way.

Yes, you can run the 1.9 metal head gasket on the hydraulic 1.6 but you need the block deck and head surface to be PERFECT for it to seal properly.  The metal gaskets aren't really THAT much better sealing wise, though they definitely do last longer.  Head studs would be a very good investment; head studs with a fiber gasket will outlast regular bolts on an MLS gasket.

Correct, the AAZ pump has a 'joke' LDA pin, but that can be swapped out easily enough.

You shouldn't type ANYTHING in on eBay.  You should go to a vendor who sells diesel parts.  The VE-pump TDI studs are the ones you want (AHU/ALH).  I recommend IDParts...
