Has 'Ignore' Option Been Eliminated?
« on: September 11, 2014, 07:37:40 am »
Since the forum was last updated, one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE features is the 'Ignore' option.  Once another member is added to the 'Ignore' list, it hides the irritating individual's posts and in the place of each post says, "You are ignoring this user. Show me the post."  If you feel like reading the post from the individual on your ignore list, you can simply click the link.  That WAS an AWESOME feature.  While it seems my previously created Ignore list still seems to work, it seems like the option to ADD or REMOVE individuals from the Ignore list has been eliminated.  You can no longer even block irritating users from pm-ing you??  Why??  It seems to me that those options are the most powerful tools for maintaining harmony in the forum.  If the options still exist, please direct me on how to modify my Ignore list.  If the options have been eliminated, PLEASE replace them.  It would be even more awesome if you added an 'Add to Ignore List' option to the user profiles under the usernames in order to make adding individuals to the Ignore list even easier.  Thanks.

I searched and found no way to do so. I didn't know the last edition had the block user from seeing posts. I knew the pm you could do but not the main thing, would be nice to have. I searched all the mod functions as well and I cannot help the forum with this. Red Rotors will probably have to be emailed and the SMF people contacted.

If that is the case, could you please direct me to what menu has the option to add/remove people from the Ignore list?

Sure. Go to Profile and then Forum Profile. Then go to Modify Profile and on the bottom (sixth one down) would be Buddies/Ignore List... then the second entry down would be edit ignore list.
You're welcome.   ;)

...and another thanks to the Admin for having the Ignore feature work now on individual posts.  It really transforms the forum experience in a very positive way.

JerryGTD, I didn't catch your edit before.  I'm a little perplexed.  You aren't currently on my ignore list and I can't think of any reason offhand that I would put you on it.  Is there a reason you feel I would want to ignore your posts?

Gee Libby I didn't mean for it to be taken like that.  Obviously we don't have the same sense of humor.

I actually enjoy most all of your posts.  Very informative.

I just thought with all those that you have gotten into with on this forum, never me that I can recall, I would poke fun about that.

Sorry to offend.

Like I said I just don't think we have the same sense of humor.

Libby, We may have had some disagreements in the past so I made that edit obviously not knowing if I was on your ignore list or not.   ???

Glad to hear that I am not on your list.  I'd like to keep it that way.

Cheers

ORcoaster, thanks for clarifying.  It's all good as far as I am concerned.

JerryGTD, best I can say is I do not object at all to disagreement in a technical subject.  The people I appreciate most on this forum are individuals who have disagreed with me and even shown me where I have been mistaken but have done so without getting personal.  I only object when people move from the technical subject in order to make personal comments with an intention to harm.  I don't recall you ever doing the latter and so I have no objection to you or your posts.
