Will a stock 1y push a b3 wagon?

I'm probably going to be picking up a 1Y to drop into my b3 that currently has an mTDi. The reason is that I plan on putting the mTDi into a eurovan and probably selling off the passat. What was the stock HP on these motors?

The only problem is I would have no other way to get around wilst I did the swap. I do know someone who has a pretty decent b3 glx wagon without an engine needs a few little things here and there but was running/driving like a month ago.

10-4.
I can't say if the 1Y will be a dog to anyone else. I know what it's like to drive a Vanagon with a 1.9NA, and the b3 must be at least little more spunky.
I'm interest tho. I got too many projects to do my b3 swap.

PS.
My swap also needs auto->5spd swap. If the b3 glider is 5spd, I might take a look.

Also would the 3.15 Ring and pinion be to tall for such and engine? What if a turbo came into play how would that wake it up enough to use a 3.15? My options are either that or a 3.67 from my old 16v and a fifth gear swap.

With good exhaust, intake and pump/timing/injectors a NA 1.9 is knocking on stock 1.6TD power.
It's delivery isn't the same, and not many folks have a truly stock 1.6TD since they are still slow.
But it's a point of reference. Make sure the alignment is good and the brakes don't drag, and avoid hills.

I do have a 2.5" exhaust on the car already.

Kentuckiana can be hilly at times.

I suspect a NA 1.9, be it AAZ or 1Y, could really benefit from a tuned pump.
It's beyond my skill level and I'm not likely to spend a grand on a pump for one of those things, but
I have a strong suspicion there is a fair bit of power in there, for NA.
I'm a fan of NA simplicity, longevity and power delivery myself.

That's what I had in my Transporter[vanagon], which weighs alot more than a B3.Of course it had a Giles pump and big intake and exhaust, but they also had them in Europe for years

I've had several stock AAZ B3/4s. The Passats received an ecopump-like set up with their IPs. Their performance, stock, was merely adequate. With a NA 1.9L, and in hilly territory, I'm not sure I'd bother. Why not fit a k03 from an early tdi? Easy to source and the car will perform a better. Hell, it might make more sense to just retrofit a 1.6 TD into the car instead of the 1Y. The turbo will be a bit laggy but once it comes one it'll perform similar to the AAZ.
FWIW: When tuned, the AAZ is no slouch.

I will most likely transfer the k14 from an aaz I have on my mTDi and save my change for a Holset he211w when I put that engine into the van.
