1.6GTD IP on an AAZ
« on: January 28, 2014, 02:14:27 am »
Have been reading that some people have put a GTD pump on an AAZ engine. However, can't find any decent threads as to why its done other than 'its more tuneable'.

In real terms , for a daily driver, is it worth doing or not not worth the hassle?

Sorry if its been asked before but have used the search facility and maybe I am using wrong search words.

Thanks.

From what I gather the aaz fuel pin is straight where the 1.6 has a tapered cone. That is why it is "tunable", but from what I read and what Giles has told me the aaz has a better cam plate in the pump. So the better option for what most say is to put a tapered pin into an aaz pump. I cannot remember if the aaz has the bigger diameter fuel pin like the cummins pumps or if it is the same as the 1.6. IIRC it is the same as the 1.6, and if so you could just get one of those pins from a pump guy or wherever and you would have the more tunable part you are looking for.
