Hey guys,
The issue is that I gutted the car to clean it up. Now I am in the process of putting everything back. So far I have sorted the wiring to be a little more neat(PO tried to put a "sound system" in it and was careless). I also now have re-installed the dash and plugging everything back in. I started with the cluster, but when I plugged it in I want to make sure all was well.. I wasn't. The cluster is getting power but isn't lighting up any of the dumby lights(oil, coolant, glowplugs, tach ect.)I know the cluster is getting power since the clock turns on and counts. I double checked everything and all seems well. I also tried another cluster with the same results..
Please let me know what you think.
MkII? What kind of cluster? I know nothing of mkII's but that info may help others.
Hmm if I was having this issue I would look at the wiring diagram for the input and power going into the cluster and take out the Ol' voltemeter to be positive that voltage was truly being passed to the cluster
clock is not same power as lights/gauges so on.. black wire is hot w/key which is what you seek... clock is red or red/white as power all time..
Ok, so I figured out that it was just a fuse. But I looked at the fuse diagram on a2resource and it didn't correspond with with fuse that is said to work with the cluster. I don't know why that is, but I Thank you guys for your help, still learned from your post.
Sorry for the stupid post.
but i can see a idiot using cluster wires for radio... so not stupid.. why i told wire colors to look for...
