I have a complete airbox from my ecodiesel. In good shape, comes with a nearly new Mann filter. $40 plus shipping.

will post a picture tonight. It is just the box, not the intake tube to the turbo. Pic will show what is included for clarity.

Can the lid be flipped around to point the intake in the opposite direction?
I know you're not an air filter expert but what is your opinion on using this to filter a 1.9?
Thanks,
Jim

There is a secondary inlet to the ECO from the metal snoot that draws air from near the exhaust manifold. No need to flip the box, just open the flapper (usually vacuum controlled) and block the front inlet.
When using the front-facing inlet, there should also be a larger baffle that wraps around the headlight. The top portion is seen in the FS post, that piece can be removed to access the headlight bulb.
I put an ECO airbox in my 86TD, I think it is tuned to reduce intake noise at the higher RPMs. Seems quieter on the highway to me. The stock 86 intake draws air from the fender, which resonates.
The ECO airbox also takes the bigger 16V gasser filter.

Will this attach to mk2 turbo hose?
I did something very stupid and cut a hole in my mk1 fender to fit and lock in a mk2 airbox.
Today I didn't even think about it and drove in heavy rain and the car started skipping, I knew something was wrong right away. Water in airbox, filter and puddle up in the intake hose! Damn!!!
The only reason I cut is I didn't have much room in alternator area to just lay the box wherever it wanted to rest without the side fitting, and to secure it.

Yes, it does connect to the MK2 TD intake hose. But is is much bigger than the stock TD airbox, so if you had trouble fitting the MK2 airbox, the ECO may be too big. It is a tight squeeze in a MK2.
IIRC, the MK2 TD and ECO should both have a ~1/4" hole in the bottom to let out water/fluids.

I think the problem is the mk2 box even with the clip on piece removed has that casting that extends beyond the air filter dimensions so with it up against the inner fender it pushes the whole box over.
Water drain holes didn't do anything for my situation I guess. Filter is soaked, bottom of box was only half full of water, but water was sitting at the intake where the oil usually collects, man I got real lucky.
I thought I was being smart by getting the intake out of the engine bay!
