Ok I grounded the wire coming directly from the cluster and that got it to turn on. What is inbetween the A2 spot and the U12 spot on the fuse box?

I just said *** it and connected the blue wire directly to the cluster. I still want to know what the actual problem is but I am tired of tinkering on my car. It is costing me a fortune driving my girls stupid V6 Corsica.
Good solution.
What kind of car is this?
MK2?
Yah MKII. 1990 Golf. Alt light always worked before but I guess whatever magic exists in the fuse box is broken.

Oh well she charges good now.

Just for grins,

, have you tried reversing the LED?
would not work w new wire if that was it.....

Thx.
No ideas on what could be wrong with the connection in the fuse box anyone?

Oh I apologize I have tried grounding it a million times. Nothing happens. I thought I had already mentioned that. But I guess not.

You replaced the LED?
100,000% positive that you placed it on the board w/ the correct polarity?
like was mentioned before, these things have a polarity, unlike a light bulb..
im going to bet that you have the LED in backwards..
worked after adding wire from alt to cluster lead = led = right..

Where you been boy? I fixed it. And determined the location of the problem. I bypassed the fuse box since it's magic is dead and ran wire from.alt directly to cluster.
Anyone have any ideas yet on what's wrong with the fuse box?
