So i have a few really low milage turbo diesel pumps lying here,problem is they sat for so many years the diesel inside has gummed up to a nasty stinky goo...
The best pump is a GTD pump with only a few thousant miles so i really want to save them,
So far ATF,clean diesel,WD40,diesel purge dont work,i tried a governor in methanol and this works butt acethone just dissolves al nastyness in minutes.
Will it be ok to fill the pump with acetone or will this destroy the o-rings ?
O-rings are going to be shot anyway, re-seal isn't too hard.
They say biodiesel cleans stuff up well, if that is rust I'd think something like CLR we have here in the states maybe.
An ultrasonic cleaner works wonders as well.

I wouldn't use any CLR because it's acid based or Super Clean because it's lye based (being the opposite of an acid) and both attack metals. I would use a hydrocarbon solvent.
When I clean things like this I use Coleman Fuel which is Naptha petroleum and works real good as a solvent. It's one of the few things I've found that dissolve silicone. I then clean with acetone which should remove any remaining residues. What I'm doing is using two solvents, one is a non-polar solvent and will dissolve non-polar molecules, the other is a polar solvent (acetone) and will dissolve polar molecules, of which one is water, so it should also absorb any water that has found it's way in there.
