I have a leaking injection pump on an 1.6 TD. It leaks where the top and bottom half come together (see attachment). Can this seal be replaced without major dis-assembly/re-assembly of the pump? I have never rebuilt one and would like to avoid having to take apart 10 different things just to replace this seal...
Thanks
It is fairly easy to replace that seal. You only have a few things apart. The toughtest part is getting the springs back on the shaft correctly. It is fairly simple. Mark you shaft splines so that you can get it to run the way it should when you put it back together.
Yes, take pictures of the throttle relation, mark everything, and disassemble with care. Depending on the setup the springs can be wound rather tight!
Also be careful when pulling the lid up, there is stuff you can break.
As well, it may be time to consider a reseal. If this seal is leaking others will start soon.

I bought a full Bosch kit so I could rebuild the pump. I just don't feel like taking it all apart at the moment. I fixed one other small leak already, this one is next. It's not leaking very badly though so it can wait.
Alright well depending on the lid you have, there may be a difference. But there are a few in the lid alone, so get them while its off
