• As the title says.. the gasser starter I used from my swap is failing fast.

• 1998 Jetta TDI had the 02A transmission.

• Got a 2000 tdi starter and it works. Turns slow still.. maybe battery or else another bad starter.

• is the mating surface between the starter and the transmission crystal clean? It grounds ~400 amps through there, it needs to be spotless.

• Do a voltage drop test and have your battery load tested

  The battery might also be weak, like 750ca 600cca or something piss poor like that. I"m going to grab a 950cca battery from work and see if it helps.
