AAZ pump is collecting air.

A number weeks ago now, our 1.9 AAZ started cranking for over 30 seconds be fore it would start. When we looked at it there was air in the fuel line, we checked the pump and one of the triangle bolts was leaking, so we tightened it.  Despite the fact that there were no more obvious leaks this didn't solve the problem.  On my next day off I pressurized the system after the filter, and checked the entire pump, no visible leaks, but the fuel filter seemed to be leaking so we replaced that, still didn't solve the problem.  The car now takes almost a minute to start, and has started stalling if it goes to idle up to 10 min. after, and then stalling at any time if the engine rpm drops to fast. 

I have been using it to get to work for the summer which doesn't require any stopping, But I am starting school now which is on the other side of town, so I really need to get this fixed.

Hows the Compression what is the condition of the engine/wear? Could be a few things but you should check the obvious things first.

Also you probably still have air in the pump, did you crack the fuel lines to the injectors start for a few seconds, until fuel came out.

I had this issue after replacing my fuel filter, I pulled ALOT of air into the pump, to the point where it stranded me in Grimbsy.....

Check your timing, the crank gear could be slipping.

I would replace the cloth braided lines between the injectors. They could be letting air in.

 Have you watched it after turing it off to see where air appears first.
 Expect some air before the filter; air has a hard time getting through a diesel-soaked paper element and will build up in a good clean filter. Not so much if the filter is clogged. So it rises to the top and comes out the filter input normally.
 
 If it starts coming from the pump input shortly after shutoff it could be a bad mainshaft seal,.. that's connected close to the front.

 Clear lines between injectors and clear from injector to pump can help see if it's the injector lines leaking.
