I have a 86 golf with a 1.6 with cold start adv on the pump, and I picked up some 1.5 parts cheap while back. Now I'm wondering if i could use the 1.5 pump in place of my leaking one. The pump looks to be in better shape then the one I'm running now. I took some pics of the pump's numbers,so any advice would help. Thanks

Yes, you can switch them, no problem. I'm running a 1.5 pump on my 1.6 right now. Works fine.
It will work. You'll even gain 200 RPM before the fueling cuts out

didnt the 1.5 pump dump more advance in sooner as well?
I can't remember, I rarely saw the bosch sheets for the 1.5s
Didn't you have to pull the shims out from between the spring and the piston to get the advance to come on early? Can't that be done on all IPs? 1.5 pumps might have had the stiffer springs and more shims. I can't remember all the details with out a look up on it.
Thanks for the info. I picked up a 1.5 of unknown year and was hopeing to use some parts off of it for my 1.6. The engine looks clean up had the head off for while so there is rust on the walls, but it turns over by hand.

well, if its a 1.5, then its from between 76-80... those are the only years they were produced..
