Hey guys hope your having a great weekend. I'm just trying to narrow down my overheating issue. Is the overflow bubble the same for gas/diesel. Thanks.
Do you mean the coolant tank? Yes. They vary by year though.
That explains allot. I've currently got a 90' Gas bubble on a 92' diesel engine
same
Have you had any problems with the overflow bubbling out?

rad caps often go bad on this type of coolant tank..
ok.. how it goes...
75-87 1 style.. some had level sensors.. so that makes 2 that look same..
in 88 they went to the round bubble one used thru current production..
so your 2 you ask is the same..
the o-ring seal on the bubble ones go bad.. they swell up and get damaged and dissapear/fall out... look to see if your cap still has it.. LOL.. no o-ring they leak like a ***..
Great info thanks. Mine how ever bubbles out but I'm going to try and change it any way.

the cap is what controls everything.. replacing the bubble is POINTLESS unless the actual structure of it is compromised..
I'm also replacing it to see it is turns my flashing temp. light off.
mine has the sensor on the top, but, my flashy light only comes on when I start the car, even if the sensor is unplugged.
I did have one on my mk1 crack out the bottom, for the price of a new one, if yours is OLD and hard, Id replace it, I had mine blow in the middle of nowhere, overheated and blew a headgasket. had to leave car, lost my passenger window and my stereo. Later my car caught fire, dont know if it was related (do the stereo being forced from the dash) or not.
all and all, was a BIG waste of money.
