I have a lead on an ACN and may go check it out tomorrow. It is off the car and supposedly has 150k on it. How does one check out a transmission on the bench? Can all the gears be engaged and I turn the main shaft by hand and watch the axle flanges spin? I will bring a dial indicator and make sure the main shaft is not bent.
What's a reasonable price for an ACN? And it should bolt right into my Ecodiesel (replacing the AVX) with no modifications or re-work right?
let me know how it goes because I'm gonna be looking to put one in my gov modded eco.

a mk2 trans is a DIRECT SWAP into a mk2. the only thing that wont be plug and play is the gear position switch/reverse light switch...
the late mk2s had a 2 pin switch, just like the OLD mk1 cars..
then the later mk1, and early mk2 cars had the finicky switch that ALWAYS failed..
all ACNs have that type of switch.. so your gonna have to find a plug to go on that switch, to make your reverse lights work.
adding in a fog light relay, using the switch as a ground helps save its life...

Why, exactly; more importantly how is it integrated? Just wondering.

As opposed to having the two lights full power running through the switch first. Sure it will pro long its life.. but most have already lasted 25-30 years...
the 2 prong ones last for life... the crappy shiftlight ones.. couple years max.... aka ones he speaks of... and correct.. relay takes the load of the lights vs the switch..
