if the camshaft were warped, it would never seal properly again. However how many warped cam ends has anyone seen? Timing belt too tight? Its possible

Is there a groove in the camshaft sealing surface?  Is the seal in square?

Is it leaking around the camshaft or around the cap?

Im not sure where exactly. It looks wet around the edge of the seal. Maybe it got distorted when I pushed it in. Ill know this weekend after I pull the belt for the 3rd time. Any advice for RTV sealers? lol

I would almost bet it's really the vc gasket leaking.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I did too and still have leaks. I think the whole problem is the garbage warpable stamped steel valve covers. It would be nice if the cast aluminum ones were cheaper and easier to find.

How would I rule out the valve cover leaking? RTV? Non-Hardening Gasket sealer? Another valve cover?

It's like the cam starts to taper before the seal has room to seal.
I'm not sure the outer dust seal even touches the cam.

Did you grease the seal lips?

The Bentley might have forgot to mention taking a ball pein and a wood block, and undimpling all the bolt holes in the VC.
