Need some torque Specs...

Can anyone please tell me what I should be torquing my exhaust manifold and cam retainer studs to?

  And 15lbs is correct for the bearing caps?

  And what does one seal cap #1 and #5 with? would rtv work?

no rtv ever.. just caps to head.. nothing else required...

  Like CRSMP5 said NEVER put sealant of any sort between a bearing cap and its sealing surface; the machining should be enough to provide enough of a natural seal.  A little tiny bead in the corners where the seal sits (AFTER the cap is installed) helps seal the VCG if that's what you mean.  Cam seal shoudn't need any sealant, though.

My book calls for sealant on #1 and #5, and there was some there from factory, thats all.

And just to clarify,  I am torquing the studs into the cyl. head, and 16-18lbs is seeming like a lot.

I've thrown a little hylomar on the first cap, just a really, really thin layer, though my Bentley makes no mention of it.

16-18 foot pounds isn't all that much. Is your torque wrench calibrated from 5 ft/lbs? I get the feeling they aren't as accurate towards the bottom of the scale.

18 ft/lbs is spec for the manifold to head. I think you could get away with a little less. 15 ft/lbs for the cam caps.

Studs should not be bottomed out IMO.

Don't worry they are M8 studs.  they are good studs (12.9 minimum) and will have no problem taking 18 ft.lbs.  If you've used new gaskets after the first heat cycle that (the torque) will have dropped a certain amount.  I usually don't retorque anything unless I have leak issues with the new exhaust gaskets.
