Well what is the most weight i can put in the back of a 86 Golf 2door 1.6N/A with out killing it or myself and still get somewhat good milage? Thanks for the help
depends on many factors..
do you have a good stiff rear suspension? if not, do you care if it sags down to the ground? is this a beater or do you care about the car? how important is fuel economy?
you can haul a lot in a rabbit/golf... just depends on how far you're going, how fast, the condition of the cars components, etc.
Do not kill me for this guys but how about like a Big Block Chevy weight. If i can get the money there is a Chevy 6.2 diesel engine i can get for a good price is that to much wright to put in it for about 250mile trip? Thanks
Apparently it's about 675 lbs.
http://www.oramagazine.com/archive/2004/08-august/0103-tech-finesse-2.aspThat means you've got an additional 350lbs or so on each rear wheel. What's the weight rating of the tires? I've hauled 720 lbs of batteries in my subaru wagon (spread between the front seat, back seat, and wayback), which has the same tires as a rabbit. I didn't go too fast, but it didn't have any trouble. Just drive it like a truck -- no quick turns, leave lots of stopping distance, don't expect to be able to accellerate, etc.
For a quick test, could you load it up with 700lbs of sandbags or something, and see how it feels?
Other option might be to see if you can borrow a small pickup for a day or two.
I have a S-10 my reason for trying this or for the idea is to save on gas my truck sucks on gas is kinda on her way out. Thanks for the help guys
