Where to get a vacuum pump?
« on: September 12, 2011, 05:08:19 pm »
So as some of you may know im on rebuild number 2, and in the process of assembly i have found that the slot that drives the oil pump off the vacuum pump is all worn out. And the local parts store cannot get me anything other than a rebuild kit. Does anyone have a source for a new or reman unit? I dont really have the time to rebuild a used one or try to find a used one, but it seems that may be my only option. Thanks guys.

So they do exist. Thanks. However i hate it when they do not list Canada as a shipping option. Anyone know any sources in Canada? If not i may have to make a phone call.

Good lord that's a lot of money for a vane pump.

they call'm jack the ripper for a reason, i guess.

I would post up a WTB add here in the classifieds. I found a nice vane pump like the one linked, and shipped it was under $100 (from what I can remember)

i ordered it up, its gonna take 4-5 days to get here and i was hoping to have it running this weekend, i would rather pay another 150 to get something ASAP than piss around for a month trying to save a bit. Thanks for the help guys.  Its a pretty common part and apparently the worn out slot is a common issue so i am surprised it was this difficult to find.

It may be a common item to replace but these just aren't common cars. They weren't very popular engines at all around here (though I've heard they're much more popular in Canada) and they have been out of production for what, 20 years now. Just to put things in perspective you own a rare European engine and that isn't as convenient as owning something by Ford or Chevy.
