Water/Meth injector mounting location

Whats up guys? Ive been thinking about water injection lately cause when i finally get my engine built (which i hope will be in the next month) the engine will be over fueled by alot and thats just how i like it...  8)
Here is the kit im going to buy.

But anyways here is where im going to mount the injector, where the flat spot is in the picture on the manifold.


what do you think? To much water in both middle cylinders and not enough in the 2 outer?

i know it seems like it will bias the two center cylinders.. but those two outer cylinders still draw in air, and if there is a mist of water in that air its gonna draw it in with it as well, so I can't see any problems.

I suppose it depends on how fine a mist you use.

Thats a really sweet kit for the price i'd be curious to how it holds up and how it runs too! If it works good thats really affordable!

I'm down on the nozzle location, like eight valve said its gonna draw the mist/vapor in regardless, the onle way around it would be to do two nozzles one above each pair of cylinders, or if you were to move it closer to the turbo but then you risk the moisture falling out of suspension but there's only one way to find out!

what do you think? To much water in both middle cylinders and not enough in the 2 outer?

the stock manifold biases the 2 center cylinders bad.. i wouldnt shoot it right there.. its aiming straight to the intake ports for cyls 2 & 3.. sure 1 & 4 are still gonna get some meth, but probably less than half of what the inner cylinders get..

Well I think shooting it right there will be fine. People says one thing and others say different...  i just know I wouldn't shoot it into the compressor because ive seen where that wears on the compressor blades.

if your gonna put it there anyways, why would you even ask our opinions?

ive blown up an engine because of the stock turbo manifold.. i know what it does..

when the head bolt holes around cylinders 2 & 3 have more cracks than the rest, you tell me what its from? 

peak cylinder pressures too high? YUP..
biasing of the center cylinders? YUP..
blistered pistons in the outter cyls? YUP..

idk man, do what you want.. but ive seen the destruction these intake manifolds cause when you ask them to do too much..

its your engine, not mine. do with it what you want.

i just know that i DO NOT run the stock TD manifolds anymore.

(the people who say that it doesnt bias the cylinders bad, have never had engine problems caused from cylinder biasing)

i, on the other hand, had an engine go boom, and the outter cylinders definitely do get alot hotter..

so, like i say, its your call, im just providing the factual evidence that the stock intake does bias the center cyls REALLY BAD..

1. cut the top of the plenum off
2. extend plenum a bit to clear everything
3. take 2" pipe, cut a slit in the bottom
4. weld it all together.

now you effectively have a passenger performance style intake manifold!

is your turbo still mounted up high on a stock exhaust manifold?

since my turbo hangs down low, i have enough room that i can run a stock mk2 gas intake manifold.. the nice thing about the gasser intake is the nice long ports, and it has an actual plenum that wont bias the cylinders.

and you are going to want your meth to be injected before the intake anyways, like 8-10 inches away, so it can get more of a chance to mix..

are you running intercooled, or just stock? because it would be kinda hard to go 8-10 inches away from the intake mani if its just got the single 90* fitting from the turbo to the engine..

Yes I can weld got a mig and stick. No tig:/
I'm not really sure what you mean about cutting and welding on the intake.
I am running stock without IC just one 90 degree rubber bend.
Still turbo is up high

i dont have, nor can i find, a picture.

where the cast elbow bolts on, the part you wanted to shoot meth into, that mounts to the top of the plenum.

you cut the top of the plenum off, so that the intake has an open top, basically a 2"x12" hole into the manifold..

cut/bend pieces of aluminum to extend plenum upwards towards hood a bit (3-4")

fit a chunk of pipe, with a capped end, and a slit in the bottom..

weld it all together..

I agree on the MK2 intake manifold, great design. Consider using something other than Meth. It has a very high Octane rating. Opposite of what diesels like. Nothing beats water at removing heat. Look into adding isopropyl Alcohol (25-50%) mixture, it helps atomize the droplets finer. This way also allows for a small pre-turbo nozzle  in addition to the nozzle that should be a few inches to mix with the air better before entering the intake manifold. There's a ton of info out there spend a few weeks reading and make your own educated decision.

Ahh... I know what your talking about now! Thats quite a bit of work.
What do yall think about pre-turbo?
Ive heard and saw negitive thing come from that but its long term effects.

i imagine its long LONG term effects.. i dont think you will see the tips of your wheel wearing away after a few weeks, or months for that matter.
