Another conundrum courtesy of the Fox TD project:
I can't figure out what this second fitting on the wastegate of my Garrett T3 is for:

I attached the larger wastegate fitting to the right angled fitting on the pressure side of the turbo (green arrows). Duh.
But what attaches to the smaller fitting on the wastegate (red arrow)? Note the blue capped fitting on the vacuum side of the turbo inlet- was like that when I got it. I can't find any photos of when I removed the turbo, the manual is unclear or only shows a wastegate with one large fitting (a K24?).
it is likely for vacuum. AKA a gasser car application with a throttle body.
So... what do I connect it to? This turbo was (and is again) installed on a MD engine code TD motor.
connect it to atmosphere.
connect it to atmosphere.
...I'm gonna need a longer hose!
you just connect it there where that blue cap is
blue capped nipple... just filtered air...
That looks different than the t3 on my 85 jetta?
But mine has those 2 connections on the turbo going to the wastegate. I don't have a nipple in the casting, its just a hole with some rtv and a small hose mashed in there to fill up the room. Then a metal piece that goes into that, then on the other end screws into the wastegate smaller line.
The bigger line goes from that barb on the turbo to a hose to a metal piece of line that has a flared threaded connection at the end that screws into the wastegate larger hole.
This turbo came out of a VW Quantum TD.
