What should I do for now though? I have to get this fixed tonight or I'm stuck driving my van again........
I could knurl the OD but it has to seal against the block.
I could run a pipe cutter around the OD and hope the raised area around the cut is enough to hold it.
If I try making one tomorrow what kind metal should use?
Would this bushing be in all engines...I mean the same size would cover 1.5,1.6, and 1.9? If so I may have one in better shape on the 1.6mf on my stand. If I could get that one out he could copy it easy. Wonder what it is made out of?
I ran the pipe cutter around it and that didn't seem to enlarge it at all so I peened it 6-7 times and it went in pretty hard.

When I peened it I noticed it was very soft, one softish hit made a pretty good dent.
There's something called sleeve retainer.
I use it for injection pump bushings.
It's lock-tite for bushings and sleeves.
I'd feel safer with some of that on it too.
Bearing and sleeve retainer.
3M makes it. It is called rite lock RT-09. I sell tons of it, good stuff.

I woulda got some the night I was messing with it but the store was closed.
If you could find out if the bushings were the same for all the 8v engines I can have some made. I would assume that the gasser engines would take the same one too?

Do gassers need oil inside the shaft? If not they wouldn't need a hole in the bushing. Otherwise I'm sure they'd be the same. Seems like somebody should have the part# listing from before they were NLA, that would show if they're the same for all of the 8V's.
What's the most recently produced engine that used this bushing? From that we might be able to get a part#.
