Since I have acquired the Eco I too have been scouring the local breaker yards for parts and whatnot. In that search I found a place in Dade City Florida, (about 45 minutes north of Tampa) called SunRay Bugs. An old man (think he said he is 82) runs the place. He fixes dubs, mostly all old school, and has five acres of almost every dub you can think of, and for some reason a bevy of Saturns as well. Sitting around.
The reason I am posting this is because in my trips to get some part off of him, he has let me know that he plans on having most of the MK1's and Mk2's sent to the crusher. He gets offers everyday from recyclers, and he is wanting to hang up his hat, hang on to the air cooled stuff, and just worry about that.
I told him that there is a market for what he has and that he needed to hang on to those cars because with a little information passing over the "innernets" he could get a lot more than the 17 cents a pound they are gonna pay him to take those cars to the crusher.
Of course him being that old he has got a decent grip on email and what not, but utilizing the web and all the niche sites to get the word out that there are still good parts avail for us bitten by the Mk1/2 "bug". So he asked me if I could help him with that. I told him that I could get the word out for him, take a bunch of pictures of what he has, and put up his contact info.
So thats what I am gonna do. Hope this helps whoever is working on whatever, find that part you might need. He also has a *** ton of oem odds and ends like seals, gaskets, trim rings, new in the box inside his little office area (I think mostly for aircooled though.)
This is the only reason I post this. I am not affiliated, related, (nor have I mated) with this guy. Just know that we are all hunting from some bit or piece, and there is a good chance this old guy has it. On to the pics...
These were sittin in his shop. They are for air cooled cars, beetles I think. He said they were called Rivieras. I googled them and have seen them on 914's 15x5.5 4x130 I have close up shots of each wheel and the sticker from the manufacturer as well. If ya wanna see em PM me. They are slightly used and said he would take 85 a wheel.

Tons of these laying around..

Jettas

Alot of the cars still have there motors in them, and mostly complete.

Beetles

Samba's, Bus's, (or whatever they are called)

Lots of OEM wheels in good shape, snowflakes, tarantulas, steelies...

For the diesel Mk1 crowd I found this...

There are a ton of other cars there. Rabbits, cabbys, fox's, a few quantums, golfs, thinks, fastbacks, type 411 or 412 (or both?)
