yeah, most of the bikes in this ones category(large displacement standard) are going for $1800-3500
if you are patient, and call early on the cheap ones you can get lucky every once in a while.
I might sell it at the end of the season to make a few bucks off it, and do the same next year...

OMG-I own/owned about every bike in this post! The wife has a EX500--I have Yamaha 500 flat tracker/ice racer (and a ton of parts)-a SR500 stock frame (really should get that back on the road) a turbo seca parts bike (crap bikes) a 82 Seca 650 that was my street bike turned drag bike-and another 650 Seca parts bike. Oh Yea-had a Seca 750 street bike i put 50k on.
Some 750 hints: block off the anti-dive valves on the forks-they never worked for beans anyways.
Find some other Yammie from that era + get the front master cylinder. Then get some braided steel brake lines to match things up. That silly hidden cable operated master cylinder was a terrible idea from the begining. Also a good time to get rid of the covered handlebars.
There should be no more trans noise than any other bike-they all have straight cut gears. And yes-its shim over bucket. There is a tool that holds the bucket down to change the shim.
Its a good solid dependible bike-I did have a Dynojet jet kit in mine-4 into one-and air filters-ran good. Unless you could chase down that stuff today, I'd leave it alone.

yeah, I am thinking about getting the master from the yamaha magna(same bike, different trim)
gonna have the parker store make up some hoses for it.
I also have a new set of control switches(not from the same bike, bit could easily be wired in to work) to make the bars look a little less crappy.
as for the transmission whine, I am used to thumper dual sports, which have very little drivetrain noise, so...

I think you mean a Maxim.

Heres my thumper

heres my Seca in drag trim. Its running a 16" Maxim rear wheel to get some gear ratio with the shaft drive-and I grafted a Honda 750 rear tail section on it.

Honda had top-end oiling problems and subsequent camshaft problems with those water "V-4" engines (from this era). Plus they tend to lose the top gear if you horse on them much (is it 5th or 6th?). But, they sure seem smooth. I rode for part of a day with two guys from Minnesota (last summer). One of the bikes was very low mileage and the other bike had mega miles on it. The mega bike did not have top gear.

I just saw this thread. Way to go dude. Bikes are lots of fun.
I've owned a few. Couple Yamaha XJ650 turbos. Fast, fast bike for what they were back then. I boosted mine to 14 psi of boost instead of the stock 7psi

. An old '65 Yamaha YDS3C Big Bear Scrambler. Wish I never sold it. Yamaha RD125 twin. Lots of fun. Honda Hawk Automatic. Suzuki BP105. Honda XR200. Suzuki DR350. I still own a '73 Suzuki GT750 "Water Buffalo" and a '75 Suzuki GT380 "Sebring".

yeah, I really enjoy riding.
the bike pulls hard, really hard(supposed to do a quarter mile in 12.3)
its kinda funny my bike makes more power and torque than my car, and weighs about a quarter as much
gonna get a jet kit(the carbs need going through anyway) that has a stage one, for stock motors and a stage three for modified ones.
stage three is supposed to be perfect for bikes with individual filters and four into one exhaust, so I am gonna try that and see how the bike responds.

Spearco:
I spent a LOT of time on a 380 Suzook many years ago. That crazy "Ram Air" system actually worked. It must have been a simple heat-sink effect.....but, I remember running around in-town and ALWAYS being able to lay my hand on the top of those cylinders and not even get burned. I loved the 2-stroke triples. Sure wish I could ride a late model 550 Suz. (with disc up front) for a few days for fun. I never had the opportunity to get near a 750 "Buff." Always had the urge for a nice RD 400 as I had the smaller counterpart (250) and remember the wonderful (?) purple/blue bilateral contrail I would leave behind! Sumbeeotch would really wheelie, too!

Nice collection Powered. My 1st street bike was a rd350-another one I had and loved (and would fit nice in your garage) was a Honda 350-4.
I also have in the barn (untouched in too many years) 2 Yammies-a YG-1 + YJ-2-60+75 cc--they were tow bikes when i was drag racing a FJ. I should try to find a good home for them.

Right now, the only running bikes are my Kawasaki Concours+ the wifes Kaw EX500.
