As for individual air cleaners (pods), the induction noise on this Kawasaki (pictured earlier) is absolutely annoying and painful at certain rpm. I believe the original air cleaner would have muffled much of that....wish I had it.
When really romping on this bike, first you get a roar of the engine itself......then the induction noise....then the scream off the pipe...all in seperate stages, sort of like how the early test planes would go through stages as they broke the sound barrier. Guess it would be real cool if I was still 18.......

New love:
this has been lurking in the shadows of the storage units for over two years. Finally, I had to poop or get off the canner! Berryman's carb cleaner and new o-rings all around. New sneakers, aircleaner, all brakes, a bench carb-synch,  and soon, a new jockey as well. Anyway, this is as far as I got today. I rode it around the storage unit streets and it is amazingly smooth, responsive, and QUIET....unlike the Kawasaki!

It was a low-mileage seldom-ridden fortunate low-budget Craigslist score which I was too lazy to pursue for two years. Hope to have it finished real soon.

You're right....probably should. It's the same old story: in so deep...can't get ooot (financially). EVEN WORSE than these damned VW diesels....
