Just curious, sorry about the new thread for something trivial, but it seems like this is just something to limit the pedal travel, or is it something to keep you from breaking your throttle cable?

Actually it won't be the cable that breaks it'll be the arm on the IP that will go.

Make sure that when you floor it the IP arm goes all the way to the stop but doesn't stretch on the cable at all.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I have found in pre-99 vw's... there isnt much stuff that is there for no reason ;)

especially on the 81's you have. VW put it there for a reason, it has lasted the last 30 years with whatever is there being there. LoL

yeah, that's one thing about those wacky germans, I've never seen much that isn't there for a purpose, I just didn't know what it was.
