« on: January 17, 2006, 06:38:11 am »
I want to fit a g60/mk3 alloy rocker cover to my SB engined MK2 GTD

Which one will fit?

My engine bay, with IC removed

I want to fit one of these and just polish the VW badge.

G60 PG engine with round pcv valve

G60 PG engine with square pcv valve

MK3 2.0 8V engine with square pcv and oil filler the opposite way round

my dad tested one on his 1.6td. t fits but you run into some issues of the gasket. i think you need to make a new gasket by hand, or use some special custom studs or something. cant rmemeber exactly what he eid, but its fits.

Yes you have to use the non shouldered studs, I sell rubber valve cover gaskets with the non shouldered studs very often even for people using just the stock valve cover.

i have a g60 rocker cover with the circular pcv valve like this one:

what do i do with the pcv valve, do i use the one from the g60, or the original gtd one? also, the gtd rocker cover has the mesh grill underneath the valve, whereas the g60 one doesn't, so what happens there? and does it just connect up to the pipework as per normal

heres a quick test fit i did at the weekend (before i began to clean the head)

looks like i'm gonna have to sort out a new cambelt cover, and shoulderless bolts too... would you consider posting one of those rocker cover gaskets n bolts to the UK?

would be v interested to know, as then i can justify having the cover painted up

cheers
lee
