In order to make putting a new alternator belt on very easy?
Or would this screw up my engine?
Thanks :|
There shouldn't be a problem running the engine without the A/C belt.
that's good to hear. Thanks for all of your help.
That belt doesn't drive anything else, does it?
That's a good question. I know its attached to another pully, but I'm not sure what it is. I'll check my new Bentley manual to see what's what.
I found out that that other belt that is on the A/C compressor also spins the water pump, so no more belt cutting in the picture... I wonder how the heck to loosen that belt!?
use a allen head wrench and remove the main pully and the waterpump pully. thay take the same size wrench. after they are removed it is no problems from there. i did it last night and had the alt belt re-placed in 30 min and the car running again.
these belts suck... but a/c is nice
there is a 400 dollar serpentine belt kit available... wonder if its worth it? (big chunk of change...)

& then when one goes they all go. :?
I've seen the advertised serpentine conversion kit. I can also tell you from experience, I've never witnessed or had a serpentine belt break on a car. Just replace it every 60-80k miles, cheap insurance.
The thing that turned me off to the kit was the fact that I would still have to use a v-belt to drive my power steering pump, which pisses me off because my power steering pump is eating belts left and right, and the car is a hard car to steer without it. :|
