They are just Drilled holes with the same diameter holes as factory squirters, The reason for the location is it was an NA block and it only cost me 45 bucks to have those squirters machined in vs 120 for new squirters, and more for the bolts to hold them in since the bolts regulate the pressure and then the machine work for them, plus Turbo pistons, So from a cost savings it was like 400 for new pistons and then machine work

it was well over a 600 dollar savings going this way, Plus I got a way with a re-ring, so I put in the Turbo piston Rings since the pistons are the same except for that notch machined in them. I still carry 20 psi Warm Idle and need a new guage since my mechanical one is clocked from the high oil pressure

I think that its a good way to do it since turbo blocks are hard to find and when you do find them they are expensive

I still carry 20 psi Warm Idle

This oil Pressure is at the cylinder head So I should still be getting plenty of oil to the rods I know that the head wont be an accurate rep of the rod pressure

I believe that the factory squirters shut off oil at about 20psi

I think that if I do it over again on a different engine that I will drill the rods so that I wont have to worry about the pressure as much because you make a good point

BlackTie, good call on the canadian Blocks I should let you know if I need another one since Canada isnt that far for a guy like me

give me a few weeks, I will work the university and have it dynoed, then I will do the govenor mod, then more fuel and then about 20-25 psi of boost and on biodiesel and veg oil, I will have plenty of dyno sheets if everything goes as planned

So far I have about 400 miles on the setup and everything seems to be working great, man these mechanical lifter motors really crank out the oil pressure, I have clocked one guage with this new engine

everything is working fine, i have seen 13psi of boost tops, right now, fuel is holding me back on boost since when i hit the throttle it shoots up to 5psi and then gradually works up from there, that and i havent closed the gate on the VGT turbo yet

I have not seen EGT's over 850 yet

oh and yes ther is a little grove machined in to let oil flow through to the oil squirter its just hard to see in the picture

this is true.  there's one sitting in a scrap yard near my house right now and you could get it for probably $75 bucks if you could carry it out (they have free parts days where you pay $75 and then carry as much as you can out of the yard).  Turbo 1.6 blocks are plentiful in Canada for some reason.

I'm stuggling to understand the piston cooling system you are using with holes drilled into the main bearings.  I posted a question a while back about how to convert an N/A block to turbo, and VWRacer posted a picture of a turbo block that shows the oil squirter off to the side of the cylinder:

The same way it does on a VR6 or many other engines that use a similar setup, the hole is drilled so is aimed towards the bottom of the piston crown and oil pressure squirts the oil against it. The oil is bled off the main bearing feed hole by a small channel cut into the block. Used with an oil pump that has sufficient output this is a perfectly fine setup.

the only downfall to this piston cooler set up is it only hits the piston half of the time since the crankshaft counterweight rotates around and blocks the oil from squirting up to the pistons

from all of the research that I did the only differences between pistons in the NA's and TD's were the notches and then the turbo engine got the same sized rings but had a 40% higher chromium content, so I put turbo rings in it

so far everything is working great I have seen 13psi of boost and once 1000 miles get on this thing then I will be doing the cylinder head re-torque and crank the boost up to 20 psi, but i will need to add fuel first since right now it spools quick but it only spools quick to 5 psi, then as engine speed increases so does boost, but its way to slow and doesnt smoke a bit so I will start playing around with max fuel
