Ticket in New York

I got a driving award from a New York State Trooper. It is kinda bogus. I didn't see the change from 65 to 55 and I was hanging out over 70. He gave me the ticket for 70 and was gone. Didn't explain and I couldn't talk to him, nothing. I just talked to the office up in New York and the lady was nice and said to plead not guilty and all would probably go well for me.
My question is how good are the New York officers?
About 1/2 the time in Ohio if you plead not guilty by the time it goes to trial they have lost the paperwork. I guess what I am asking is should I even file the stuff? How good is it since the internet having an out of state ticket being followed up on?

Anyone in New York or have had dealings with them and could give me insight on how to handle this let me know.

That's called visitor tax. Thank you, come again! Find out if your state has a reciprocal agreement with NY, if it does, you should fight it, because the points will go on your licence. Read everything carefully. If you do fight, make sure you delay the hearing as long as possible, at the last minute, as many times as you can, that will increase the chances that the paperwork will get lost.

If there's no agreement between NY and your state, the points can't follow you, you can either just pay it, fight it as above, or ignore it, at risk of having a warrant out on you here.

Yeah, as a lifetime NY resident, it is a gamble, sometimes you show up for court and the officer couldn't make it and they drop charges. Sometimes you can keep calling court to postpone court date (can't get off work, etc) and then eventually the day you show you may also luck out and the officer may not show. If it's your first offense in NY (probably is, right?), it will likely get reduced to a non-point related offense and you'll pay maybe $75-$150 and be done with it. Not a biggie to worry about if you have an otherwise decent record. In the meantime, make solid friends with an officer (current or retired), someplace, anyplace, and get a courtesy PBA card or something of the sort from them, and when you're pulled over in the future show it with your license and it will likely get you a pat on the back & on your way. I will send in the not guilty and see what happens. The ticket could raise the cost of my engines so much it won't be a great deal anymore:D

check the statute of limitations for a speeding ticket in ny, then don't go to new york for that long haha
