hi, i have a 1981 vw, rabbit, pick up truck, diese,l NA, with a bosch injction system. My injection pump started leaking, and I need to replace it or rebuild it or something. I can not find a rebuild kit anywhere or even a new pump. None of the local junkyards have any rabbit diesels (and one didn't even know what one was), so if anyone would be able to help me out in locating a rebuild kit or pump it would be much appreciated.
dv diesel in miami has been rebuilding diesel related items on automobiles and heavy equiipment for something like 30 or 40 years. ask for the owner, mr vila.

ask him what is the price for rebuilding an injection pump on a vw non turbo diesel. make sure to tell him its for a non turbo app. a couple years ago he quoted me $325 to rebuild my pump with new parts, and $250 for a rebuild using good used parts. now that was a couple years ago so i dont know if his prices have changed. but you can rest assured that it is a quality shop,. i have been there many times for rebuilt injectors, fuel line and all that stuff. hes got a slew of bosch certifications framed on the walls, and its a very clean shop. no dirty grease monkeys there. hes a nice guy but his english can be a bit troublesome to understand.
Probably that is only a broken seal in the pump's shaft....... I had that problem some time ago
well if you want to rebuild it and get some power out of it, i HIGHLY recommend calling Giles at Superior Fuel Injection in Canada. (905)475-1222. They charge $550 for a normal rebuild using all new Bosch parts, and for another $100 you can have an upgraded pump that uses 1.9 parts and adds a claimed ~20hp. i just got this pump installed on my non turbo diesel jetta and i can drive with my speedo maxed out at 85 like its nothing. going up hills is a lot easier and less downshifting is involved. well worth the money IMO, but you gotta pay to play
woah woah woah...im really liking this pump that adds twenty hp...can you tell me more about it. how did it affect your mpg...?
i recommend the pump if you need to rebuild your pump, which i dont think you need to do. however if you DO need to rebuild it, i defintely would call Giles and have him build you one like mine. the mpg is the same, driveability is much better, it costs about $100 more than a standard rebuild.
Well I replaced the seal on the cold start lever cover. It doesnt leak anymore diesel. I now am very interested in this pump mod by eliminating the intermediate spring with something solid, to keep the counter weights from using cenripital acceleration/force to limit fuel supply at high rpms. I first need to find a practice pump, because I have never attempted anything like this before, and I dont want to mess mine up. Also I am concerned with over reving the engine, or any engine damage that comes with doing this mod. I guess what I am asking is what are the consequences?
