If you're converting to 5-speed from 4-speed, you'll also need the shifter base/box. They're different too. If you have worn bits, it will be a pain to adjust the linkage in order to hit reverse and 5th.

you just need the pieces from under the hood.. i used my stock 4 speed shifter rod, and everything else was out of a 5 speed.

Sorry. It is only supposed to get up to 9F tomorrow and I won't be going after the GTI for parts until it is warm. Or I think I could do it and not freeze. I would have gotten it for you though, I just ran out of time

its alright.  Lucas.  I figured you were busy.

I just needed that lever part, I got the shifter base, and linkage and bushings on the way.

So I should be ready to throw the 5spd in it.

What I do need still is an AAZ.  but I need to get more money first.  or if any canadian has a good one that will let go for around 6-700 bucks that does NOT blow oil out the exhaust I could drive to pick it up given a decent day.
