« on: December 05, 2010, 09:39:28 pm »
i was looking at the driveaxle on the passenger side i think it was and there is a part that goes around it, it has some orangish greasy stuff on it or it is made of it i am not sure, and there isnt one on the other axle. any ideas? it is about an inch wide and fits around the axle. i can try to explain better if need be, i am just not sure how to lol.

Picture might help, even if it's taken with a phone

Is it at the transmission end or wheel end? On the axle itself or on the joints?

Try rubbing it with a rag, maybe it's a sticker or something? Possibly a sleeve. The two axles aren't necessarily the same brand, so they don't need to be perfectly symmetrical

enough boost is when you have 3 dimple marks in the hood from the valve cover nuts..  ;D

You are likely referring to the harmonic dampener, if it's a circular disk a inch or so thick and a few inches in diameter.

OEM passenger-side drive shafts have 'em to dampen out vibrations on the longer of the two drive shafts... you rarely seem them on aftermarket replacements like EMPI.

I cut mine off because it came loose, slid over and rubbed through my brake hose.  Found out as I was stopping for a red light.
