I want to lower 1"

However I do not know how to go about it.
I have stock springs right now with a coil that has rusted and broken off the top on both rear springs, and I kind of like where it has brought the 84 jetta in height.. However i want to mimic this drop on my 81 for when i get my new struts. Monro Sensa-Tracs which apparently handle 1" drop really well, as they are a mono-tube design it really stiffens them up.
However if I can I don't want to have to spend $200 on a set of sport springs. The rear of my 84 with gray KYB's and about a 3/4" drop handles really well out back.. no slop and is very very tight.
I have heard bad things about cutting springs, however I am not looking to "slam" my car. Just a conservative and effective drop to stiffen everything up. What are your personal opinions on the situation?
thank-you for your time. lol

Zukgod1 those look alright! I might look in to them. Racelandus has some 40mm progressive lower springs for $58 or so... So which ones are these?

has anyone done a 40mm drop on a monroe sensa-trac? They say they will handle a moderate drop, but I would like to know the ride. It will be stiff, but thats ok its what i'm after.

I think I will stick with stock springs with the dead coils cut off to drop it without harming the ride at all.
I will follow proper spring cutting techniques, so its all good.
