the rod bolts in my 1.5 are re used, and torqued to 44 ft lbs IIRC.. and it spun LOTS of RPMS.. as many as i could turn it before the pump rollers started skipping...
enough boost is when you have 3 dimple marks in the hood from the valve cover nuts..
As you know they are supposed to be replaced most of the time.However.. I have never replaced a one, well one I did because my torque wrench was broken and snapped the damn thing..
