rear window defogger
« on: October 26, 2010, 09:09:21 am »
I have a 1985 Diesel Jetta. The rear window defogger doesn't work at all. The light in the switch comes on but the window stays fogged up. I checked the wires connecting to the drfogger wireing and have voltage. I check the wireing in the window and there is continuity from end to end. With both of these I'm not sure why the defogger doesn't work.

if youve got power to the switch, and power at the window.. and power going across the window, only thing left is the ground. That circuit needs to ground out for the current to pass through those tiny metallic strips and heat up.

Exactly.

I'd try to run a wire directly to ground and see if it works.
