What is the difference between the AAZ and the 1.6TD pump?
Also can a camplate from a ALH pump be used in a AAZ(MTDI) pump?
Thanks
The AAZ pump nose is longer so the bearing is bigger, this is to fix the earlier pumps getting wobbly. I bet you the TD pulley is wobbly. I don't know if the later pump's pulley is offset to compensate.
Cam plates are definitely different between the various applications. 1.6TD pumps have a different ramp shape than AAZ pumps since 1.6TDs have different injectors than AAZs.
Other differences... AAZ has the almost-pointless LDA pin whereas most 1.6TDs have a fairly aggressive pin. AAZ pumps often have a myriad of different emissions control bits and pieces depending on the application, and may have an immobilizer attached to the fuel solenoid.
I'd almost bet money that the governor kicks in at a lower RPM on the AAZ pumps... Would be a fairly safe bet that the load-dependent advance kicks in at a different RPM too.
That help?
I was wondering if the 1.6TD pump would be a better starting point for a MTDI(w/TDI camplate)?
Dunno where you are from, but the US 1.6 pumps differ considerably from most UK/European 1.6 pumps.
As a consequence, a lot of info on here can be misleading.
In my experience, most of the UK 1.6 pumps have the AAZ/GTD style camplate, I've only ever seen one of the lame 1.6 camplates that seem to be universal in the US.
