Is there a VCDS workaround to keep the 00560 Exhaust Gas Recirculation 17-10 control difference intermittent CEL fault from showing up with my 98 AHU Green Jetta - after yes that the EGR mod has been done???
Thanks
Then I have also another 98 AHU Black Jetta but with complete EGR system installed that also faults with same code. To the Black one I have checked the lines and they are good - the EGR diaphragm holds a good vacuum and I can feel it pop when vacuum is released after tongue is removed from hose also hose going to air box is good and clear of restrictions - I have not replaced the vacuum switch there by the fuel filter - how does one check that?
What all can cause this fault and what are the usual remedies???
Thanks
If you have vag-com you can check the EGR function in basic settings, i believe channel 3 or 4. You'll be able to see the MAF value change as the ECU triggers the EGR. I don't remember which channel it is, but it may also be a MAF failure- but don't quote me on it. If you need more info , i'll dig out my notes tomorrow.
I found a tech bulletin [ 01 97-04] about the 560 fault. It mentions cleaning the valve [with the intake boot removed] with brake cleaner while pulling it open with a vacuum pump and then lubing the shaft and plate with a bit of clean motor oil. You can then check it's function like i mentioned before. Use vag-com to get into the basic settings, channel 3. At idle it should switch from EGR open /close . You will see in the second section-EGR aktiv/not aktif and then corresponding in section 3 the MAF value., which should change at the same time- 420 to 560 not aktif and 170-340 when aktif. For some reason i seem to remember those numbers may be backwards, but no matter what the MAF values must change. If they don't ,or are too high/low it's either because the EGR isn't working, the valve isn't opening enough or your MAf sensor is shot.
