Sweet!!!! Since I'm ignorant, what s-charger and turbo is those? And what should the compounded results be?

So you're gonna try bending the head on your I-mark 8)?

hey 'Yall, I am getting out of the VW game :'(

I found a new car that sings to me louder than the VW's

Just so ya know, those words still sting............. ::)(shakes head in shocked dismay)........traitor.

Just keep us updated and it'll be ok. ;D
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

ha, ha, yeah, its for the I-mark...

but I am not such a traitor, the I-mark is still a german car(as it is an opel kadett)

the turbo is a K26 from a 5-cylinder audi, and the supercharger is an eaton M62 from a Buick super-coupe.

I plan on using the bypass in the supercharger to let the turbo blow through the supercharger without compounding after it has spooled up.
that way the boost will be limited to 30-ish PSI, but without lag(as the supercharger will boost the low end.

thats the plan, trying to make a high power car that is still drivable in the city.

all I need to do now is get some steel plate and pipe and try out my new mig welder!

so my plan as it sits now is to install the supercharger and get it running before slamming the turbo on.

I have a serp pulley, but need to work out how to properly attach it to my crank.

I had worried about the crank pulley's interface with the crank and how it would do with the added stress of turning a supercharger until I saw the crank bolt...

it seems that here too Isuzu made the motor extra tough.
it has a large keyway interface with the crank, and that huge bolt!

its all in the works, I am currently having a centering ring machined so I can mount the serp pulley.
until then I cannot really build my brackets as I dont know exactly what my pulley offset will be.

I have also come up with some interesting ideas about how to bypass the supercharger when the turbo spools up, and how to control boost from the supercharger based on throttle position(something I really wanted to do with the last supercharger build but never finished)

patience, these things take time.

well, did some prep for when the supercharger bits come in.

I turned the intake flange around, and some maintenance at the same time

the PCV is pretty cool on this engine as well, it is designed so the motor can blow out pressure, but the intake cannot suck gasses out(it has a diaphragm in it)

and for good measure a pic of the cam/rocker assembly

Well, if the parts come soon I will be able to make the charger bracket and stwrt mocking up the charge  piping.

I was expecting my temporary intake with an open filter(and no super/turbocharger to quiet it down) to be unholy loud like the VW was, but it is not very bad at all.
It is actually kinda pleasant.

Anyway, pics of progress soon, I promise.

so some of the parts I had commissioned came in.

here is the centering adapter for my crank pulley

and a custom boost pin blank(I will later grind it to my liking with a dremel)

I was super excited to get the parts, so I ran out to the car to test fit the centering ring for my crank pulley.
it fits the serp pulley perfectly, but I had a real "DOH!" moment when I went to test it on the crank, I had forgotten about the huge bolt head holding the damn thing to the crank nose.

the centering ring will have to be modified to clear the bolt head, probably will have to bore the inside of the small end out some.

wish I had noticed that before I had them made up(by the way, thanks a bundle to the fellow who did them for me) maybe I can find a local friend to do the modifying for me.

anyway, back to work!

No problem! I hope the spacer works well without too much trouble!

enough boost is when you have 3 dimple marks in the hood from the valve cover nuts..  ;D

well,  I will try to get the crank pulley figured out this weekend so I can start on the rest of it...

I have decided not to mount the charger where the AC compressor used to be, but rather make an adapter to mount to the intake manifold to replace the 90* elbow there now.

should simplify plumbing for the turbo etc. and be easier to get to things down the road(as the charger wont be crowding the alternator.
