I can't get anything to my heater fan. I have went through the bentley and have chased some wires, but I need to find a couple plug ins. Or need to know if they are supposed to not be plugged in. I have one that has some fat red wires going into it and a brown that is a 3 wire connector that is in the harness=I need to find where that plugs in.
I also have a white connector that has a top row and bottom row with around 16 pins total in the harness I can't find a spot for.
If nothing else I will get pics tonight, but would rather have you guys tell me how to put humpty back together again

What year is this bad boy? What electric system does it have? I'll see if I can dig something up for you.

Edit: AC or not?

I think it is CE2, but not sure. Here is a pick, it has a clock no tach.

A/C it has but not all there yet. It was originally a N/A 1.6L now Turbo.
It is the car in my build thread. I have to get it back together soon and wiring isn't my strong suit.

The 16 pin connector is your problem. It goes plug into it's mate under the dash , above your right leg ,just below and left of the HVAC controls. When all the taxis here were all those late 80's mk3's , because they had the fan on 24/7 for 3 years [ 3 year/ unlimited warranty ! whoo hoo!] it would burn that connector where the fan wire was .

Cool.
I will try tonight.
You can actually see the other connector in the pic I posted. It is visually inbetween the steering wheel and the shifter. It looks identical to the cigarette lighter, but a little different.
that is the cigarette lighter connector, the other one goes into the same big loom and you can see the bottom of it going up to somewhere. ANy idea where? I can't find anything for it to go to. The white one that I will try tonight I couldn't see anything either before, but now I know where to look.
Either way pics will be taken in case I have further trouble.

So help me out and tell me what goes where LOL
Seriously, I don't understand wiring like some of the guru's out there. I have tracked stuff down in the bentley and it just says "xx connector under dash" It never tells you where stuff goes from there in a physical location on the car and I can't find anything that those pieces connect to. I need to know where to look.

For the next time I need to search this up, that pic^ is the power for the fan. It goes in the back of the vacuum slider thingy.
My fan works now. Just needed power. Now that it spins I need a new one since the bearings sound shot in this one.

I thought that looked like the power plug for a heater. Not knowing your vehicle well enough to say for sure. I had my 1981 Rabbit heater apart big time a couple of weeks ago. Came out after I pulled the wiper motor and blades off. Then I could get the the motor out by sliding it over to the corner of the car well by the drain plugs and twisting it out. Runs great now that the bearings have a little lube on them. And all the leaves and branches are out of it. I took the liberty to use the shop vac on the heater core and remove years of buildup in there too. Just have to be careful around those fins.
Does your blower motor come off from the inside? Or from between the hood and the windshield?

My fan will come out through the inside, I think.
The plug doesn't go directly to the fan. It goes to the back of the temp selector/vent position selector thing in the dash.
