Well, I gotta admit. I'm surprised! Replaced both tie rod assemblies this evening. There's a place in Springfield,Mo called Roy Rogers, www.royrogersparts.com Had the parts I needed on the shelf.
Picked them up, brought them home and put them on the car. Torque steer was very nearly eliminated. Drives much better, hell, it's driveable! Wish I had the forsight to see if they had bushings in stock. oh well, next time!

Pulled the drivers side assembly out and the inner joint was shot. you could move the ball in and out of it's socket. everytime you did there was a puff of rusty dust!

so tomorrow morning the little Golf will be making it's first 140 mile commute. I'm parking the benz in favor of something smaller,lighter,more efficient, and with working AC! It's been in the triple digits here and driving a benz with no AC that constantly blows hot air on your feet sucks!

Can't wait to see how it does on fuel.
