normaly it would crank 4-5 times to to start then i advanced alittle more and first crank she fires....right track???
As long as it doesn't sound like marbles in a tin can then good show.
Advance always helps starts but don't advance it to the point where it sounds like stuff is breaking (it wont be breaking but it wont run right) just as Tyler said.
Half a degree can make a big difference.
I was told by a good VW mechanic to advance the timing until it starts to get hard to start with the cold start lever pulled when the engine is hot... has anyone else heard of this before? I haven't touched the timing yet and don't have the necessary tools for it
