Guys,
Got a real good deal on eBay for a 4000 mile VW GOLF mk5 2.0LTDI PD complete turbo unit. Its turbine housing is 1 cast with the manifold.

I havent received it yet but I assume its the VNT 17, maybe not though.
Quite simply, I would like to know the best way to operate the mechanism on an engine with no ECU operated vacuum system.
I know this has all been covered by others before, but i'll lost track of the different ways to do it.
Jake, how did you get got results on the 1.6 VNT conversion ? Is it driveable and reliable ?
My little Jetta Eco took a pretty big hit the other day when it hit ice on the road, its not repairable, so its going to be my new test rig for things like this, before fitting over to 1.9's.
