you can up the boost and be ok, it could possibly make it run cooler egts.  but i wouldn't recommend cranking up the fuel and the boost a lot,  i was running 25-30 psi and plenty of fuel with no intercooler i did have a larger exhaust and cone filter but other wise there weren't any other mods.  i ended up with a cracked head,  you don't want to end up where i ended up haha.  i was young and dumb what ever.  honestly with out you increasing fueling, you probably won't be able to go over 15 psi.  there just won't be enough heat and gasses to do it.  so i'd say ur safe to up boost  just keep ur egts in check

ive personally never seen an engine die from no timing belt cover.

ive killed an engine from having the air filter pop off.

someone else on the board has murdered their compression from losing an air filter too..

There have DEFINITELY been dead engines around here due to no timing belt cover.  There have DEFINITELY been engines who've died due to no air filter too!!  Both are equally bad news...  One gets you gradually over time, the other reaches out one day with a totally unexpected godsmack.  Either way, eventually you're doing a rebuild way sooner than you would have otherwise.

Did a 600 miles round trip this past weekend with no issues. A LOT of mountains and long climbs on boost without any issues.  ;D

i was running 30psi+ for a good while till i got my boost controller now its around 25psi.

i've been running mine without a filter since i put the engine in over a year ago and had no problems what so ever. kept meaning to put one on but never got round to it and very much doubt i ever will. I also ran my old td scirocco for a year without one, both cars had plenty of abuse and were driven in all weathers and on lots of different sufaces from tarmac to gravel.

i've ran a few car's without cam belt covers and know many other's who have done the same and i have never heard of any engines being killed by it. whats supposed to be the danger?

With the timing belt, if ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING from a tiny little pebble, a twig, parts of a bird that just went through you grill, that zip tie you left sitting on top of the radiator, some random bolt, WHATEVER gets between the belt and a pulley (which the toothed belt will drag in there quite nicely) you've got a very good chance of throwing the belt.  Once that happens you're rebuilding your head at a minimum since you just smashed your pistons into your valves.  If you're lucky it's just the head, if you're unlucky you could be in for a whole bottom end.  Personally I don't have an extra couple grand sitting around "just in case".

With respect to the air filter, well... Someone once told me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.   :-X :-X

does removing the cam belt cover suddenly turn your car into a magnet for low flying birds? lol

as i say i've never heard of an engine being damaged by a lack of a cover, some of the car's running without them are running twin carbs with trumpets and no filters too

some one best tell this bloke that his engine will explode if he drives it like that ::)

running no filters or cam cover is a common practice, i could fill this thread with photo's of car's running without one or both but the threads gone far enough off topic as is.

Remember, not every engine has a flat cylinder head and pistons with no room for valves.  Many many many gassers are non-interference engines, or are so slightly interference that they can suck it up with their hydraulic lifters in a lot of situations.  There are lots and lots and lots of these on this board:

I mean LOTS.

As to the bird, that was a joke... just ask this guy: http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/index.php?topic=17883.0
